SAKAHACHI KYOTO

Visual identity for craft beer bottle shop and bar in Kyoto

We helped Sakahachi Inc. develop the brand identity for DIG THE LINE BOTTLE & BAR, a bottle shop and craft beer bar housed inside the historic ShinPuhKan building in Kyoto, Japan.

The slogan Connecting Craft sums up the concept of a line formed by the connecting of two points, which becomes a network when more points are joined together. In this context, the points represent places, communities, and craftsmanship.

Main Visual

Story

Formerly a sake brewer, the remnants of Sakahachi's old brewery tells of the brand's distant past. When Sakahachi was still producing sake, most of their distribution was made on water. From the river that once carried their sake, the idea for a new brand (DIG THE LINE) was born.

The logo, a straight line connecting two things (e.g. regions, ideas, cultures, products), was designed to reflect the slogan and river narrative. The line motif is used in the brand's digital space and throughout the physical store as navigation signage, floor graphics, and other spatial design elements.
